End of Hallway Design Dilemma
The end of our hallway was fine. But boring. It has a basic lower cabinet and was just kinda blahhhhh. It served as a place where I put the kids laundry. So I decided to just swap, add and remove a couple things to make it look a wee bit more finished. And I also had one major issue…
I not sure if its a design faux pas but I added leftover wallpaper from our guest bathroom renovation. Does it matter that they are on opposite sides of the house? Probably not, but I’m happy with how it looks. Although its a bold print, the colors are muted and it’s oddly versatile. I wanted to go with a mirror, because it’s a dark hallway and I wanted to bounce as much light as I could coming in from the surrounding rooms. I also knew I wanted a round mirror because the all the lines in the hallway were square or rectangle and it needed some balance. The challenge was that from the vantage point in the connecting room there was already a huge round metal mirror. Hmmmmmm. I ordered several mirrors… oval and arched. One looked too similar in style to the existing round modern mirror. The other looked awesome style-wise, but was too small and looked wimpy. So now I needed something with rounded lines, non-metal framed but still complimented the metal mirror and was at least tall enough. Cue the jeopardy music. This had turned into a little puzzle that was taking up way more time and energy than I had bargained for. I really wanted to call in a professional but had to resist the urge. I live in this purgatory of not being a designer, but being decent enough (and cheap enough) not to outsource when I maybe should. But here I am. I finally found something that worked. I stole some vases from other parts of my house to simulate how it might look. I linked a few similar ones that I am now eyeing for a permanent home. Here is the finished product:
This wallpaper is called Navarre in the grey and white. We used it in our guest bath and now here. We love it. It also happens to be 30% off today which makes it even more lovable.
Thanks for following along! xo
